Operations Continue for Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm

July 27, 2020

We have recently been capturing the stages of construction and installation of the Kincardine Offshore Wind Farm. We began with a trip to Aviles, Spain where sections of the semi-submersible base were fabricated and shipped. More recently we have been covering the work off the coast of Aberdeen where ploughing operations took place and today the main cable which will run the power from the wind farm back onshore is being towed out. If you are around the coast, near Doonies Farm, keep a look out for the vessel which will be very near shore for the next day before it heads back out towards the wind farm location.

The 50MW wind farm will produce enough electricity to power approximately 55,000 Scottish households and it will be the world’s biggest floating offshore wind farm, upon commissioning in 2021. We are looking forward to heading back overseas soon to capture the next stage of construction before the turbines are towed over to the UK for installation.
